Murfreesboro TN Greenway GATEWAY CHALLENGE - Walk 30, 40 or 50 days for prizes!

Murfreesboro TN has an impressive Greenway system that consists of approximately 12 miles of trails for residents to enjoy.  The Murfreesboro Parks and Recreation Department has kicked off their Gateway Challenge to encourage residents to get out and enjoy the Greenway System while reaping the health benefits of walking!

Individuals have until November 2 to complete 30, 40, or 50 days of 30 minute walks.  The Parks and Recreation Department is encouraging individuals to meet the challenge and commit to walk at least 30 minutes a day.  Participants who meet the challenge will be eligible to win prizes and will be awarded certificates for their achievement.

Almost everyone can walk regardless of age and athletic ability.  The health benefits of walking are motivational when you realize it's many benefits!  Walking can:

  • Reduce BAD Cholesterol and Increase GOOD Cholesterol
  • Lower Blood Pressure
  • Manage Your Weight and Keep You Fit
  • Improve Your Mood and Sense of Well-Being
  • Reduce the Risk of Heart Disease

The Gateway Challenge is to encourage you to get active with the family and reap the benefits of walking!

The Greenway is a great place to get out and enjoy nature and unwind as your stroll past the Stones River.  The Greenway is full of residents walking, biking, or jogging.  It is great to see so many families with children out enjoying the trails or couples walking their dogs.  There are numerous playgrounds on the trailheads along with some stunning scenery to enjoy.

The annual Greenway Arts Festival will take place on September 17 at the Old Fort Park trailhead from 10 am to 4 pm.  Make sure and schedule one of your thirty minute walks during this time so that you can also enjoy seeing some great creations from artists from the Middle Tennessee area.  There will also be lots of great food and activities for the kids.
